About Ciggi's Collection
Decorating my place with items that feel unique and special to me has never been easy. Typical stores sell art that's been seen for decades, doesn't match my style, and sometimes is completely AI generated - which I'm not a fan of. My walls stayed blank for so long because I could never find anything that felt right. I didn't realize how much I needed art until I had a space of my own and wanted to make it feel like "home."
The Discovery
I discovered cigarette cards in the most unexpected way - listening to a podcast while working my summer job cleaning pools. Something about them intrigued me, so I looked them up on eBay. Before I could even think it through, I ordered a set out of pure instinct, like I just knew I needed them.
When they arrived, I was blown away by how detailed and beautiful they were. I did some research and learned that the ones I bought were from the 1920s-30s in Europe, and that cigarette cards actually date back to the late 1800s! I started showing them to friends, and everyone had the same reaction I did - "These are so cool, where did you find these?" That's when I realized: other people have the same frustration I had finding unique art. These cards deserved to be seen, not hidden away in collections.
The Mission
What astounds me most is that this beautiful art was given away as a little gift just to get people to buy cigarettes. Almost no one in the US - or even where they originated in Europe - knows about this piece of art history. It felt wrong to keep it to myself.
I started Ciggi's Collection to rescue this forgotten vintage art and make it accessible as affordable prints. I've been creating art since 3rd grade - from acrylic and oil paintings to stained glass and mosaics - so I understand the value of craftsmanship and creativity. These cards represent both, and they deserve a second life on your walls.
I hope when you find a print from Ciggi's, you feel like you discovered something you didn't even know you were searching for. A unique piece of history that makes your space feel more like you.
What's Next
This is just the beginning. I'm constantly sourcing new vintage cards to add to the collection, and I'm exploring ways to transform this art even further through mixed-media pieces. If you love the idea of rescuing lost art and making your space truly your own, I'm so glad you're here.
